Sunday Meditation

Isaiah 52:13-15 (RSV)
"Behold, my servant shall prosper, he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high. As many were astonished at him - his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the sons of men - so shall he startle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which has not been told them they shall see, and that which they have not heard they shall understand."

The word "startle" is usually translated "sprinkle". This is the same word which is used for the sprinkling of the blood of the sacrifice, which sanctified the altar and all the tools used in service to our God, by the nation of Israel.

Knowing the meaning of this word gives us the correct context and understanding for this passage. All will know and see that Christ is the Lamb which sanctifies us from our sins. God's salvation, which has been declared from the beginning, is made complete in Christ Jesus.

Now, why have the nations and kings not heard and not been told?

2 Timothy 4:3 (RSV)
"For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings...."

However, the Word of God remains to truthfully testify of his Promise of Salvation, which leaves the nations without excuse. Read the Word and listen to its message... for in it is the plan and purpose of God made manifest through his Son Jesus Christ.

.::* Amen.... Thanks to my Sister in Christ, Cindy Paiva, for this post. With the exception of a couple of edits, it really is her post. ~Kara~ *::.
